Your page title and meta description are your advertisement in search results. The title helps search engines understand the page and is the biggest clickable text searchers see; the description is your chance to convince them that your result is the one to click. Small improvements can noticeably increase traffic from the same rankings.
Writing titles
- Put the main keyword near the start. "Binary MLM Software — Pair Matching & Payouts" is clearer than "Welcome to Our Company's Software Solutions".
- Keep it to about 50–60 characters, so it is not cut off in results.
- Be specific. Say what the page offers, for whom or with what benefit.
- Add your brand at the end where space allows — many sites add it automatically.
- Make every title unique across your site.
Writing meta descriptions
- Around 150 characters, written for people.
- Explain the benefit and what the visitor will find.
- Include the main keyword naturally — search engines often highlight matching words.
- Add a call to action — "Get a free quote", "See pricing", "Learn how it works".
- Match the page — misleading descriptions increase quick exits.
Examples
Weak: "Home | ABC Technologies" Better: "GST Billing Software for Retail Stores | ABC Technologies"
Weak description: "We are the best company providing quality services." Better: "Fast GST billing with barcode scanning, stock updates and WhatsApp invoices. Free demo and setup for retail stores."
Search engines may rewrite them
Search engines sometimes show different text if they think it better matches the search. Clear, accurate titles and descriptions are rewritten less often.
Review with data
In Google Search Console, find pages with many impressions but few clicks and improve their titles and descriptions first.
